Medicare beneficiaries with Part D or Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans that include prescription drug coverage can now access a new payment option for their prescriptions. With this option, beneficiaries no longer have to pay the full out-of-pocket costs for their prescription drugs upfront at the pharmacy. Instead, they will receive their prescription drug bills from their Medicare plan, which they can pay in installments over the year. This payment option is available with all plans and is optional. Beneficiaries can choose whether or not to participate, and enrollment is free.

Pharmacists, please encourage your patients who may benefit from this new option to explore it, as it provides an easier way to access necessary medications and makes managing their medication costs less stressful.
